Holy Spirit Catholic Church
Denver, North Carolina
Holy Spirit church was once in a renovated elementary school building in an auditorium. Current Sunday Masses are held in the Parish Activity Center while daily Masses continue to be held in the original building. After 25 years of growth in the Denver and greater Charlotte region, it became clear the parish would need to build a new. larger church.
The planning and design phases for the new church in collaboration with the Diocese of Charlotte began in conjunction with the process of developing design norms for new and renovated churches throughout the Diocese. The new Holy Spirit church is one of the first to be developed alongside these new norms. The final design will represent a shift from mega-churches of the recent past to churches with sacred architecture embracing Catholic identity and its many traditions.
