Sacred Hearts is the only Catholic church in Morrow County, Ohio just north of Delaware and Columbus. The small farming community lost its church to a devastating fire on Thanksgiving morning, 2013. The pastor and parish moved quickly to start the rebuilding. Our designs here are related to the simple provincial architecture of the county, but elevate the simple geometries with Christian meaning, architectural details and repeating motifs. With a very limited budget, this design expresses in a fresh way the importance of a singular Catholic place of worship and the rich patrimony and endurance of Christian architectural forms.
The 250-seat church includes a Narthex, Vesting Sacristy, Work Sacristy, Confessional, and Loft while the Social Hall wing contains the restrooms, parish offices, a new large kitchen and social hall.
