St Rose of Lima Campus Plan Study
Murfreesboro, Tennessee
St Rose of Lima is a vibrant and growing Catholic parish. Although the parish had done a campus plan in 2006, significant growth in the county and the parish led to the need for a new plan to address present space needs and accommodate future growth.
A survey of the parish ministries and the school administration identified needs for a new gym, reconfigured athletic fields, and a community center. The pastor at the time also envisioned a new, larger church for the growing congregation in the distant future.
Our proposed solution brings coherence to the parish campus by organizing the new additions around three new courtyards. The new church is placed at the front and center, emphasizing the centrality of the Catholic faith to the life of the parish. The parking lot and new secured lobby for the school entry provide a safe drop-off and pick-up area for students. The addition of the gym and the eventual conversion of the current church to a social hall will provide much-needed large gathering spaces to support the communal life of the parish.
