Sacred Heart Catholic Church
Coshocton, Ohio
This parish church at the seat of Coschocton County in eastern Ohio was dedicated in July of 1898 and originally designed by the noted architect William P. Ginther of Akron. In preparation for the 125th anniversary of the laying of the Church's conerstone, our office was contacted to beautify the interior.
We found pieces of an old reredos and altar being used for an altar of repose to one side of the sanctuary and a paint scheme that was dated and uninspired. The wood pieces became integral parts of a new reredos design and main altar and a unified historic paint scheme for the interior. Side shrine pedestals and kneeling rails with the original 19th century sanctuary gates were also part of our scope of work. Lighting was improved and the sanctuary received a new pre-finished hardwood floor to replace the stale carpet. Even small parishes far from large cities deserve the beauty owed to God for the edification of the people.
